Movie Review #1

Am so damn excited as this is my first movie review and that too am starting it with the new release of my favourite Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan (SRK) also known as the King of Bollywood or Indian Cinema. He’s my favourite since the day I started watching movies.

Being excited about SRK, I didn’t even say the movie name. The movie is Dear Zindagi   (Dear Life) starring Shahrukh Khan and Alia Bhatt directed by Gauri Shinde and produced by Gauri Khan and Karan Johar. The movie released first in North America on 23rd November 2016 and then worldwide including India on 25th November 2016.

The movie is basically about the experiences in your life, the emotions we go through, the break ups, the ups and downs that break us. In this movie SRK plays the role of Dr. Jehangir who teaches Kaira (Alia Bhatt) how to deal with her problems and emotions, how to move on and let go and the importance of life. The perfectly written script and story that you know can be related with your own life. Relationships, work, family, society, etc. everything. Very different than the common movies and also different kinda role played by both SRK and Alia.

The movie starts in Mumbai with Kaira (Alia Bhatt) who’s an awesome cinematographer or the chief of the camera crew who enjoys her life and was happy until her life became a nightmare. Her life turned upside down when the a film producer Raghuvendra (Kunal Kapoor) she’s in love with gets engaged to some other girl. That’s seriously heart breaking. And also meanwhile she broke up with a guy named Sid who was owner of a Restobar just for this Raghuvendra guy. It felt so bad. I mean it feels bad when you see your ex with some other girl by betraying you right? and engaged is like a hydrogen bomb on you. And you know how is it like when you are dealing with one problem in your life then only all the problems come together as if you wished for it. That is what happened with her. She was already dealing with this heartbreak and then she also lost her apartment. Due to all this she had to move to Goa to live with her parents for a while which she didn’t like.

When in Goa she went to Dr. Jehangir (SRK) a psychologist for her insomnia after hearing him in  a Mental Health Awareness conference. Meanwhile she meets a musician named Rumi (Ali Zafar) with whom she spends time and also develop feelings for  but she ditches her feelings, avoids him before anything happened between them. She already had so many issues and complains buried in her with her family. She bursts at a gathering about how she felt abandoned by her parents when they leaft her in her grandparents house.

She conveys her life story and feelings to Dr. Jehangir who then helps her overcome her fear or phobia for relationships, for commitments which is something that I have too. I have this major trust issues and also relationships and commitments. I mean commitments in a relationship. Its like I know if I get serious then something bad will happen. Can’t talk to people about what I feel because I think they can’t be trusted or won’t understand or will judge. I guess everyone faces this and have insecurities and I really think so its very necessary for a person to overcome this because any fear except the fear of doing bad is not good. And I think so that that is what this movie is all about. Dr. Jehangir explains to Kaira that you don’t need to forgive but you just have to consider them regular people who make mistakes and liked that thought so much because everyone make mistakes right? So did you in your past or present or may be will in the future but you gotta accept it and move on. Why to hold on to it and depress yourself or shield yourself from happiness?

At the end she realises that she shouldn’t let her past spoil her present or future and just be in the moment. She moves on with her life, goes back to Mumbai and finishes her film and also meets a guy who could be her perfect match.

I loved this movie as you can relate and also learn. I don’t know if every story has got a happy ending or not but I do know it has a ending and the journey to the end definitely has beautiful and happy moments. So don’t think about the climax, enjoy the movie, enjoy the parts. Don’t just talk about the tragic parts of the movie instead talk about the funny and happy ones. And also don’t try to forget your past. It is a huge part of who you are now. Don’t try to run from it instead face it, accept it, learn from it and make your present the better one.

This is what I think. So, if you think I deserve some appreciation then please do like, comment, share and subscribe for more posts from me. And also sorry if any mistake as it is my first movie review. Do watch this movie and also listen to the tracks, it is amazing.
